With the global ageing era, New Zealand’s steadily growing population and increasing awareness of health promotion, the healthcare sector outlook has remained consistently bright. According to statistical data, the proportion of the population aged 65 and over is expected to increase from approximately 17.5% to 40% between 2006 and 2036. The elderly population aged 65 and over requiring care is also rapidly increasing, and healthcare workers are projected to increase by approximately 2.5 times (around 50,000 people) during this period. Healthcare sector workers can pursue careers not only with the elderly population but also in various fields including hospitals, rehabilitation centres, schools for people with disabilities, healthcare centres, substance abuse treatment and prevention centres, mental health treatment centres, the Ministry of Health and youth counselling centres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
