Bachelor of Nursing
Nursing programmes primarily aim to train nurses and equip students with professional nursing knowledge whilst preparing specialised healthcare professionals suited to New Zealand’s rapidly changing healthcare environment and medical technology. Most universities structure their curriculum aligned with the New Zealand Nursing Council registration examination, resulting in considerably high pass rates. Nursing in New Zealand is recognised as a profession with high employment rates, competitive salaries and stable working environments. Upon successful employment after graduation, permanent residency application becomes possible, making nursing a popular choice among many international students.

Career Pathways After Graduation
In New Zealand, various types of medical facilities operate, including not only general hospitals but also specialist hospitals, general clinics and nursing homes. For nursing, after completing a 3-year bachelor’s degree and passing the nursing examination administered by the New Zealand Nursing Council, you become a registered nurse and can successfully find employment without difficulty, with opportunities available at hospitals in various fields. However, in New Zealand there is a tendency to prefer nurses with experience, so most students often find employment at private clinics to gain experience before moving to larger general hospitals. Additionally, through the Overseas Nursing Registration system, after becoming a registered nurse in New Zealand, employment is also possible in countries such as Australia, the UK and Canada.
