About the school
The University of Otago, established in 1869, is New Zealand’s oldest university, renowned for its history and tradition. The main campus is located in Dunedin, the second largest city in the South Island. Dunedin has a vibrant student population, offering a youthful and dynamic atmosphere within a city rich in tradition.
The campus is close to the city center, with on-campus and nearby student accommodations fostering a lively university environment. The university features beautiful Gothic-style buildings that reflect its long-standing heritage and Scottish-influenced architecture. Otago operates a total of 10 libraries, seven of which are in Dunedin, including specialized libraries for medicine, dentistry, and other fields to support academic study.
Otago has four faculties: Business School, Division of Health Sciences, Division of Humanities, and Division of Sciences, offering a wide range of programs from certificates and bachelor’s degrees to master’s and doctoral degrees.
