Introduce School

Lincoln University is located in Lincoln, a suburb about a 30-minute drive from Christchurch in New Zealand’s South Island. Lincoln is a small town in the Canterbury region with a significantly higher percentage of the student population, making it a quiet, vibrant, and dynamic city. It’s not far from Christchurch, so it’s convenient to live and has good access to various cultural facilities.

Lincoln University first opened as an agricultural school in 1878, making it the oldest agricultural university in the Southern Hemisphere. It later operated as an agricultural school associated with the University of Canterbury and became independent in 1990 and was accredited as a full-time comprehensive university. In 2011, it merged with Telford Polytechnic to run a joint degree program and also have a large commercial farm that serves as a training ground. Although the school is not very large, it boasts expertise in agriculture and land-related fields, and has a reputation for its unique and diverse range of majors and outstanding research in related fields.

It is the only university in New Zealand to boast expertise in agriculture and land-related fields, offering a wide range of majors in agriculture and the environment. It has three colleges, the Faculty of Agribusiness and Commerce, the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and the Faculty of Environment, Society and Design, and offers a variety of degree programs from associate to bachelor’s and master’s and doctoral programs.

School Features

The University of Lincoln is the only specialized educational institution in New Zealand in agriculture and land-related fields. Agriculture is one of New Zealand’s largest industries and boasts a clean, pristine natural and agricultural environment in the world, so agricultural education in New Zealand is also attracting attention around the world. The University of Lincoln offers a high-quality education in a unique and specialized field of agriculture and land that is not offered by other universities in New Zealand. With the recent signing of the Korea-New Zealand FTA, not only will exchanges in the agricultural field between the two countries be active, but New Zealand’s agriculture-related education is also expected to attract a lot of attention.

In addition to regular degrees, we also offer associate degree courses such as farm management and horticulture and landscaping, which is recommended for students who want to receive professional vocational education in the livestock industry or those majoring in related fields in Korea. The full-time bachelor’s degree offers a wide range of agriculture-related fields, from agricultural economics and agro-life sciences to real estate management, viticulture and winemaking, and landscaping.

The agricultural education offered by the University of Lincoln not only reflects the latest trends in the field, but also emphasizes environmental protection and sustainable development. It operates its own research institutes in various fields and has established subsidiaries to take the lead in commercializing the latest technologies and research results.
